Just finish the phrase!

1. I’d like to start

Coming up with an actionable new years resolution list can be tricky. Asking yourself fill-in-the-blank prompts such as: “I’d like to start _______” Can help you get your new year goal juices flowing. So, fill in the blank! Is there a specific habit you’d like to start? Here are some ideas:

  • I’d like to start going to bed earlier.

  • I’d like to start a daily yoga practice.

2. I’d like to learn

Asking yourself what you’d like to learn in the new year is a great way to diversify your new years resolution list. Learning a new skill, language, or art form can really give you a boost of self-confidence and independence you may not have even known you needed in your life. So, what do you want to learn in the new year? Here are some ideas:

  • I’d like to learn how to use power tools for DIY projects.

  • I’d like to learn how to use a sewing machine.

3. I’d like to try

Never stop trying new things! Keep life spicy. Keep yourself inspired. Stay on your toes! What new things do you want to try this new year? Here are some ideas to add to your new year goals ideas:

  • I’d like to try eating more whole foods.

  • I’d like to try growing a flower garden!

4. I’d like to visit

I love being home. It’s my happy place.—My comfort zone. But adding some travel plans to your new years resolution list is a great way to break up the year, create life-long memories, and experience something new! Where are you headed this new year? Here are some ideas:

  • I’d like to visit my family up North.

  • I’d like to visit Disney World.

5. I’d like to improve

Personal growth is so important. We can so easily get caught up in our day-to-day routine that we forget to exercise our brains, challenge our bodies, and hone our skills. Asking yourself what you’d like to improve upon in the upcoming year is a nice way to ensure you’re always moving forward and growing as a person. Here are some ideas for self-improvement:

  • I’d like to improve my Spanish.

  • I’d like to improve my cooking skills.

6. I’d like to stop

We all have a few little habits (okay, maybe some big habits) that we know we need to break. When penciling out your new year goals ideas, it’s definitely important to think about the negative stuff you can say goodbye to. Bye bye bad habits! Here are some habit-breaking ideas:

  • I’d like to stop using my phone so much around my kids.

  • I’d like to stop scrolling through social media before bed and read instead.

7. I’d like to help

Considering how you can help others around you is a new year resolution idea that I feel like always gets overlooked. ‘New year new ME’ and everything, right? But carving out space in your life to pay it forward with acts of kindness can truly send out positivity into the world that, hey, may find its way back to you. Here are some helpful ideas:

  • I’d like to help my neighborhood by picking up garbage on our walks.

  • I’d like to help my local donation center.
